The last game of the season proved to be the toughest yet for West Norfolk’s Women’s Rugby team.

Playing Harwich Owls, who are two leagues above West Norfolk’s non-league side, was a fantastic experience to end the season with, before applying to join a league for the 2017/2018 season.

All the Owls’ tries came in the first half where West Norfolk struggled to settle and tackle convincingly. West did respond with two tries before half time both run in by Zoe Sharp.

After a forceful half time talk, West kicked off with a new determination and a defence that proved to be unbreakable for the final 40 minutes of play.

The final try and conversion came after a team play that saw forwards Jessica Walker and Sian Marie breaking the line with a ‘Hail Mary’ pass cleaned up by back Kathryn Sharp, passing to Zoe Sharp who made it past three Owls players to place the ball behind the line. With a calm boot, Zoe Sharp then kicked the last conversion of the match.

The final score was 27-17 to Harwich Owls.
