American V8-powered BriSCA Formula One Stock Cars are racing at Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena for the first time this year tomorrow (6pm).
They form part of a stock car spectacular alongside BriSCA Formula Two Stock Cars and Ministox, three national formulas featuring the country’s leading drivers.
Heading the F1 entry list is Mat Newson from near Norwich, last year’s Lynn track champion and leading scorer in the national points. Two third place finishes offered a promising start to the season at Belle Vue in Manchester last weekend.
Newson has never claimed a major title. With the World Championship final taking place on his home track at Lynn later this year, it may provide the perfect opportunity to break his duck.
Also competing in F1 stock cars will be World Champion and shale surface specialist Craig Finnikin from Staffordshire, plus former World Champions Frankie Wainman Jr (Yorkshire) and Rob Speak (Manchester). Mark Sargent (Spalding) has already won twice at this track this year – at the Formula Two season opener.
The F2 entry includes Peterborough’s Andrew Palmer who has raced at eight meetings and scored three wins already, including the final at Mildenhall in Suffolk last weekend. Middlesbrough-based Sam Wagner, winner of the final at Belle Vue, is also in the field.
Ministox are for the F1 and F2 stars of the future aged under 16. Their entry includes third generation superstars Frankie Wainman and Jessica Smith who continue the on-track rivalry of their illustrious fathers.
