NEW LYNN RPC

Seven members sent 69 birds from Ancenis, in France, with Linda Simper well clear and winning her first race of the season.

Her hen bird took 7 hrs 55 mins to fly 380 miles. The Manning Brothers won first pools and the nom and second lot went to Payne & Bunton.

Result: 1 Linda Simper, 1408; 2 Her Majesty the Queen 1316, 3 Pat and Julie Royle 1285, 4 Manning Brothers & Son 1195, 5 Eddie, Jim & Guy Perry 1190, 6 Paul & Tina Payne & Malc Bunton.

Eleven members sent 120 birds from Salisbury and the first nine were all won by North Lynn members.

Chris and Leighton Boughen carried on from the week before, this time taking the club’s top two spots.

Their winner took 2hrs 18 mins to fly 149 miles and was clocked just three seconds ahead of their second bird.

They also won first pools and nom and second pools went to Linda Simper.

Result: 1, 2 Chris & Leighton Boughen 1894 (both birds), 3 Linda Simper 1893.8, 4, 5 Kim Peacock & Bernie Byrne 1893.6 and 1889, 6 Manning Brothers & Son 1883.

GAYWOOD

Six lofts sent 89 birds from Salisbury. The in-form Ogdens won the first six positions and their winning Busschaert took 2hrs 11 mins to fly 142 miles.

Result: 1 to 6 Rod and Gloria Ogden & Sons 1908, 1900 (two birds) 1899, 1889 (two birds).

The club also raced from Ancenis when six members sent 61 birds.

North Lynn’s Will Byrne had a very good bird taking the top spot and took 8 hrs 4 mins to fly 380 miles.

Result: 1 4 Will Byrne 1381, 1160, 2 Her Majesty the Queen 1316, 3, 6 George & Graham Cook & G/Son 1309, 1078, 5 Colin Manley 1116.

WEREHAM

Seven members sent 110 birds from Salisbury.

Steve Ward claimed a much-deserved win when his Jos Thone took 3hrs 29 mins to fly 139 miles.

Result: 1 Steve Ward 1930, 2, 3, 4, 6 Rodney Cochrane 1922 (two birds) 1921 1856, 5 Billy Mellett 1873.

CLENCHWARTON (SOUTH)

Seven members sent 68 birds from Salisbury.

South Lynn’s Peter and Dave Ellwood had a great race, taking the club’s first three positions.

Their winner took 2hrs 20 mins to fly 147 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 3 Peter and Dave Ellwood 1850, 1848 1847, 4, 5, 6 Dale & Neil Dennis 1832, 1831 1781.

CLENCHWARTON NORTH

Six members sent 59 birds to Lerwick, Shetland Isles.

The race turned out to be very hard with Pete and Scott Garwood’s winning bird taking 18hrs 41 mins, and only five birds clocked.

Result: 1, 4 Peter and Scott Garwood 792 465, 2, 3 Gerry Knights & Sons 525, 501, 5 Her Majesty the Queen 464.

In the club’s next race, eight members sent 88 birds to Seaham Harbour.

Wally and Sheila Collins had their Vandenabeeles in good form, taking three of the top-four cards.

Their winner took 4hrs 2 mins to fly 160 miles.

Result: 1, 3, 4 Wally and Sheila Collins 1162, 1111, 1094.9, 2 Gerry Knights & Sons 1123, 5 George Moon, 1094.1, 6 Her Majesty the Queen 1090.
