Club Santacruzense 3 King’s Lynn RHC 14

The Lynn Premier League side achieved maximum points in their two roller hockey games over the weekend.

The side took to the road for their opening game of the new year with Club Santacruzense, who play at Millwall Football Club, where a small but grippy rink awaited.

Both the teams began well considering the Christmas break. After Lynn went 2-1 up they began to gain control of the game. With some good moves they entered the break 4-2 up.

After the restart, Lynn found a burst of energy. Inside the first five minutes the lead had increased to 8–2. The pick of the goals came from Sam Kay after some neat play in the centre of the rink.

Following a goal, a penalty was also given to the home side. An excellent save from Will Martin followed and the ball rebounded up to the opposite end where Lynn showed their clinical side once again. Some more good play from Lynn followed with more goals from Sergio Hutson(1), Sam Kay(2), Jamie Griffin(4), Josh Taylor (7). Man of the Match: Michael Carter.

RHC Invicta 1 Lynn RHC 10

Following an overnight stay, the boys were fresh on Sunday morning. The away side had most of the ball but quick lapse in concentration gave Invicta a lead.

After a timeout the team decided on a different attacking method which soon paid off, and Lynn were 3-1 up at half-time.

Lynn began the second half in the same fashion by being in full control. A minute in, Josh Taylor scored his first goal with a clinical breakaway. With Josh Gay dominating proceedings in the defensive zone, soon it was 6–1.

Next was possibly the goal of the game with Jamie Griffin combining well with Michael Carter to exchange passes from one end to another and finishing with a powerful drive to the top corner of the net. Once again a few more goals followed with no reply to round off a solid weekend.

The next two games at the end of the month will be a real test versus Letchworth RHC and Bury RHC.
