In the Anglian Schools athletics event in Norwich a number of West Norfolk AC athletes were selected to compete in the four-county competition between Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambs and Lincs.

Seven golds were won by club members in the greatest representation and return in many years.

Lucy Koenigsberger won gold in both Hammer (48.57m) and Shot (10.94m, a personal best) with great throws. The Hammer throw was at a very high level within the current national standards.

James Greenhalgh was also a double gold winner in 110m hurdles (15.9) and long jump (6.40m). Lucy Edwards placed second in the triple jump in 10.31m, a new PB, and placed fourth in the long jump (4.74m).

Hannah Greenhalgh tried a new event and will be well pleased with a club record 55.0 in the 300m hurdles. Rudi Stevens added 5.02m for fourth in the long jump and Jude Falkner threw 40.11 for a fine gold in Intermediate girls hammer. Charlie Williams jumped 11.19m for fourth in the triple jump and threw 11.38m for fifth in the shot. Rachel Chapman beat all before her with a fantastic 11.9 for gold in the 75m hurdles, this as a first year junior girl. Michaela Raine ran a new 300m best time of 44.0 for fifth.

The hurdlers continued their great form with Rahim Benson second in the 400m hurdles in a great new PB and club record (60.1) and Haydn Buffham sixth in a very fast junior boys 80m hurdles (12.9).

Mason Higby continued his fine discus form with victory and gold in 32.46m and Arthur Knight placed second in the hammer with another PB (26.70m). Brother Harry Knight placed fifth in the shot with 11.40m, also a PB.
