On Friday the sun shone on 19 teams of golfers, who played the challenging 18-hole course at Swaffham Golf Club to raise £8,000 for The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House.
After the game, all golfers were able to bid on a large assortment of prizes in a silent auction including a stay in a log cabin, a fishing trip and a hawking experience.
The winning team was ‘Swaffham Presidents’. Runners-up included ‘Adrian Flux’ and ‘Oddbods.’ A Hole in One competition also took place, which was sponsored by Marshall Motor Group and offered players the chance to win a car up to the value of £20,000. No-one was fortunate enough to sink a hole in one.
Commercial director at the Hospice, Mark Shea, said: “The golf day is now one of our biggest events in the fundraising calendar. I would like to thank all of the teams along with the sponsors and all of the companies who donated the auction and raffle prizes.”
The fundraising team are already looking at next year’s Golf Day. Anyone interested in sponsoring the event or entering a team should contact 01485 601701.
