The club got a £30,000 grant from England Hockey towards the floodlights to allow it to hold higher level competitions.

It also had a saving plan in place since its first Astroturf was put down about 20 years ago, and the club then went onto raise another £40,000 through various fundraising projects – from car boot sales; one tonne of grain donations; through to patronages allowing PHC to reach its target.

Pelicans Hockey Club runs four Mens’ and four Ladies’ sides plus two Development teams in the East and Norfolk Leagues, offering hockey from the age of 6 upwards. Members are reminded a captains’ meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 6.30pm at the club.

Training is on Wednesday nights from 7pm and Pelicans are always keen to welcome new players. To join Pelicans Hockey Club please ring Charlie Lankfer on 07717340014; or email lauf15@btinternet.com
