Racing at Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena features earth-shaking BriSCA Formula One Stock Cars in a world qualifying round (tomorrow, 6pm).
The event takes on extra significance as the World Championship Final itself will be staged at the track later this year.
Supporting the big American V8-engined cars is a packed programme of races for the always entertaining BriSCA Formula Two Stock Cars and Ministox.
Norfolk’s own Mat Newson is currently second in the world qualifying standings as he aims to secure a position near the front of the grid for the World Semi-Finals.
Newson will have to contend with the likes of former World Champion Lee Fairhurst (Lancashire) and the legendary Frankie Wainman Jr (Yorkshire) among a large entry as he chases his first win of 2015 at his local track.
A big turnout of Formula Two Stock Cars is also expected, with the meeting being a World of Shale qualifying round – another championship that has its final at the Saddlebow Road shaleway later this year. The country’s leading loose-surface racers are all expected to be in attendance.
Lynn local Shaun Clarke had a night to remember in the 1500cc Bangers last weekend, coming home third in heat one, before winning heat two and then managing a more than respectable top-10 placing in the final.
Local driver Willie Skoyles Jr and Rougham-based brothers Lee and Jamie Sampson each scored credit-worthy top-10 finishes among a strong field of Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars that served up their usual action-paced racing that has to be seen to be believed. But all are still searching for that elusive first win of the season at their local track.
Lynn’s Stacy Lightfoot managed third place in the Lady Banger final while fellow hometown racer Chris Brown scored a best result of third in the 1300cc Stock Cars.
