On Saturday at Taverham High School 15 junior Ryston Runners took part in the second round of the Norfolk Sportshall League
The Under 11 Boys A team of Ben Smith, David MacQueen, Harry Sharpe, Kit Howlett and Liam Clare fought off competition from clubs around the county to take the team win on the day as well as taking an overall lead going into the final match of the season.
It was a good day for MacQueen who took a couple of top three positions in his two individual events.
Other top three finishers on the day were Howlett, second in the Hurdles, and Clare in the vertical jump and chest push.
In the U15 Girls age group, in which athletes compete as individuals, Gabrielle Clare finished seventh overall in a competitive field.
A highlight of her competition was taking the win in the Vertical Jump.
The B U11 Boys’ team, the U11 Girls’ team, and both the U13 Girls’ and Boys’ fared well in what was for many their first ever Sportshall competition.
Andy Harrod and Paddy Thompson took part in the Remembrance Day Poppy Five-Mile race at Boston.
Conditions were wet and windy but it was deemed a really good run and well organised.
Thompson ran strongly, on the back of his marathon training for Florence in three weeks’ time, to clock 36:24.
Harrod, in his first race for a while, showed he is slowly coming back with a time of 43:59.
