The 2015 King’s Lynn MTB Club “Christmas Bash” mountain bike race, held at Shouldham Warren this year seemed to be more about who was the best dressed rather than who was going to win the race.
The actual race was 18 miles of the best trails that the club have developed in the forest, lots of hill climbs, technical single track and fast descents.
Santa, elves, reindeer, Christmas crackers, puddings and presents, and even Darth Vader made an appearance.
The results were, Men’s: 1 Lee Woodcock, 2 James Murphy, 3 Rob Smithers. Ladies: 1 Emily Quantrill, 2 Anita Stewart. Over 59: Steve Booth. Best Dressed: James Ashby dressed as Father Christmas and Lydia Bunn dressed as an elf, who both raced on a mountain bike tandem.
The race culminated another fantastic year for this young club and it members. Focusing on maintaining that all-inclusive ethos of making cycling fun for everyone, no matter what age or ability. Some Lynn MTB racers gained sponsorship, after producing outstanding results through out the year, many podium places. Others raced competitively for the first time, from the age of 3 to 59, after a gradual introduction into cycling.
In 2016 many events are planned.
