IBA PROTECT Lynn Table Tennis League
In the Premier League, six games took place with Top Spynn and St James playing twice to catch up with fixtures.
With this in mind Top Spynn now top the table with not one, but two, 9-1 wins.
The first came against a two-man St James team.
Ross and Karl Brown were once again in good form both winning all their games for Top Spynn, St James’ consolation coming from an Owen Turner win over Richard Johnson. TopSpynn’s second win of the week came at Heacham ‘A’, once again the Brown brothers were on fire with full maximums and Heacham’s consolation came from a Mick Ruffles win over Phil Brown.
Ziggys are now second after a 6-4 away win at two-man Heacham. Chuck Hewitt, John Blyth and Alan Nicholls all had wins over David Woolley but none of them were strong enough for James Patterson who bagged a maximum. James and David also teamed up to take the doubles.
Pegg Scaffolding had an 8-2 win over Ambit Projects, Dale Parnell and Peter Pegg with full maximums for the away team and Johnny Reavell pitching in with a win also. For the home team David Whitby and Lewis Baldock both had wins over Johnny.
A full-strength St James then won at Wasps, 6-4.
Serafim Melo did the damage with a tidy maximum and had good support from Owen Turner who gained a brace, the two also paired up to take the doubles.
For the hosts Tomasz Simka had wins over Howard Lupton and Owen Turner; and Steve Goodale and Steve Mason both beat Howard.
Avengers drew with Wisbech Wizards 5-5. Brett Heppenstall was the only player on the night unbeaten for the Wizards, Brett also teamed up with Alan Ashberry for the doubles and Alan also had a good win over Keith Phillips.
For the home team Martyn Allen and Don Dixon scored a couple of wins each and Keith Phillips beat Peter Munch.
In Division One, Wasps ‘2’ have closed the gap at the top to three points, mainly thanks to an 8-2 win over a two-man Pauls Driving School, Igor Scekalevs and Paul Reed both unbeaten for Wasps with Terry Rudd with the other point.
Paul Barrett beat Terry in reply and teamed with Trevor Mason for the doubles.
Leaders Wisbech Hawks had a tough 5-5 draw at Runcton Holme ‘A’, Wayne Thorn was unbeaten for Runcton and had good support from Danny Vertigan who had a brace of wins. For the Hawks Graham Pack beat Danny and John Ganley, Graham Sheppard and Nick Pack also won a game apiece. The two Grahams took the doubles.
Green Fingers visited Spin Doctors and came away with an 8-2 win mainly thanks to a Mike Cooper maximum and a brace apiece from Gordon Penney and Stuart Frost.
For the home team Roger Chilvers had two good wins over Stuart and Gordon.
Runcton Holme ‘B’ entertained the young Blades team and lost 6-4, Alex Bragg and Jack Mason both going the night unbeaten for the visitors. David Lane, Carol Parker and Clive Sandle all defeated Ben Peacock in return.
The biggest win of the week came from Runcton Holme first team, 9-1 at Swaffham Terriers. John Mingay and Melvyn Jupp both went the night unbeaten and Graham Warren had a brace of wins, only losing to Peter Fysh.
