South Wootton Junior School has been recognised for its excellent sports provision with a prestigious award.
The Silver Sainsbury’s School Games Mark rewards schools for their commitment to, and development of, PE, school sports clubs and competitions.
The award coincides with the opening of the school’s new £32,000 Multi-Use Games Area, which has given pupils at the school even greater opportunities to play a range of sport throughout the year.
Headteacher Jonathan Rice said the award is a fitting tribute for the outstanding contribution of the school’s PE co-ordinator Simon Cook, who has overseen many years of sporting success at South Wootton Junior.
“Everyone who knows the school knows what an amazing job Simon does and that this school’s great reputation for sport is entirely down to him,” said Mr Rice.
“We run at least one sports club every night of the week and Simon is always out there, often at tournaments on Saturday morning too. This award is all down to Simon and we are all very pleased for him.”
