The first round of this year’s Senior Fenland League was hosted by West Norfolk at St. James Pool, with competing clubs from Ely, Diss, Chatteris and Wisbech.

West Norfolk had brought together an exceptionally strong team of top swimmers, many with regional and national experience, so were in dominant form from the first race.

Nathan Wells, Abigail Whiting, Astrid Hubbard, Natalie Coogans and Robert Addis all powered to two individual wins each. Other swimmers taking single individual wins were Rachael Johnson, Sam Rose, Leah Wightman, Jake Lammas, Rosie Muspratt, Freddie Laws, Jenny Read, Harvey Isle, Jacob Isle, Lara Grace-Mount and Ryan Sykes.

The swimmers combined to collect five relay wins and along with a clutch of second places from other team members, virtually blew the opposition out of the water to seal a memorable win overall.

Many thanks to the pool staff from Alive Leisure for their valuable assistance, and to all the officials from West Norfolk and all the visiting clubs.

Final Result: 1 WNSC 406 points; 2 Chatteris 282; 3 Wisbech 278; 4 Ely 260; 5 Diss 243.
