Ryston Runners celebrated the achievements of their junior athletes during 2016 on the track, cross country and Sportshall.

In 2016 the club had multiple athletes represent Norfolk, including English Schools, multiple new club records set, and some major improvements on individual personal bests.

Club records set in 2016: Charlie Wakefield 1500m U15 Boys 4.43.8 minutes; Thea Howlett Javelin U15 Girls 31.18m; Thea Howlett Shot U15 Girls 33.66m; Thea Howlett Long Jump 4.99m.

Awards

Individual Age Group Track and Field Athletes of the Year, U11 Boys: David MacQueen – includes 3.87m Long Jump to win Norfolk County Championships by a large distance. Special mentions went to: Thomas Turner and George Evans. U11 Girls: Ella Matthews – for performances in the Quad Kids Event.

U13 Boys: Liam Clare – three medals at the Eastern Track and Field Championships. Special mentions: Kit Howlett and Joe McNulty. U13 Girls: Mia Moore – 2.39 minute 800m run a highlight. Special mentions: Lily Teasdale, Meg Willis and Bea Honeybone.

U15 Boys: Robert MacQueen – ran for Cambs in 200m at Anglian Schools. Special mentions: Charlie Wakefield and Bailey Took. U15 Girls: Thea Howlett three new club records. Special mention: Saffron Teasdale, Katie Moyle and Kate Willis.

Male Sportshall Athlete: David MacQueen. Special mentions: Liam Clare and Max Pike. Female Sportshall Athlete: Lily-May Collison. Special mentions: – Lily Teasdale and Bea Honeybone.

Male Cross Country Athlete: Bailey Took. Special mentions: Charlie Wakefield and Kit Howlett. Female Cross Country: Rosie Booth. Special mentions: Izzy Sandover.

Best Male Newcomer of the Year: Thomas Turner. Special mentions: – Riley Bell, Kieran Bell, William Evans, Max Pike. Best Female Newcomer: Mai and Matilda Loram. Special mentions: – Lily-May Collison.

Male Endeavour: William Evans. Female Endeavour: Lily Teasdale. Male Most Improved: George Evans. Female Most Improved: Bea Honeybone.

Outstanding Performance of the Year: Kit Howlett – 800m at Norfolk County Championships, gold.

Track Athlete of the Year: Liam Clare – medals (75m Hurdles and 100m) at Eastern AA Champs. Field Athlete of the Year: Kit Howlett – Gr 2 England AAA performance in Long Jump.

Overall Athlete of the Year: Thea Howlett – three club records, county team, including Inter-Counties where she came fifth in the Javelin.
