Thornham Cricket Club on Saturday went to Castle Rising 2nds in the Norfolk Cricket League.

Winning the toss and batting first, Thornham reached 281 for 2 wkts. Will Dodds scored 51, Stephen Lucas 86 and Chris ‘Alf’ Burgess 114 not out.

In reply Rising were dismissed for 102 with Chris Williamson taking 5 for 23, and with a maximum 26 points again still top of the division.

Sunday’s visit to Welney Croft was a great game played by the Sunday XI, who batted first and set a decent score against a very good Welney side (Lucas 40, Burgess 72, E Forde 28 and B Pierce 23).

Thornham bowled even better, almost holding them to four an over, finally losing in the 38th over. As Welney are top of their division this was a good effort.

Next game is at Thornham tomorrow v Raynes Park.

Sunday is at home to Grimston.
