In 1932 Rotary Member A.V. Speed (a high street jeweller) presented a Golf Challenge Cup to the Rotary Club of Lynn to be played for by members and, other than for two years during the war, it has been competed for annually ever since.

A.V. Speed became president in 1938 and his son Philip followed, himself winning the cup in 1974.

This year’s winner, Rotarian Geoff Cheney, won the cup at a specially organised tournament at Swaffham GC and the Speed Cup was presented to him by club president Bob Sharp.
