Two tennis titles for North Runcton based club

West Norfolk Lawn Tennis Club, based at North Runcton Cricket Club, has won both the Mixed and Ladies Division One titles in the North West Norfolk League.

The mixed doubles team, comprising regular players Leanne Skinner, Gary Thrower, Mark Little, Sue Pratt and Norma Bowen, plus sub Sam Croxford, were unbeaten throughout the season, winning all eight matches. The pairing of Skinner and Thrower did not drop a set.

The ladies team of Skinner, Bowen, Pratt and Margaret Doubleday, plus sub Aldona Ivanauskiene, were also unbeaten, winning six matches and drawing two.

The men’s team, playing in Division Two, have yet to complete their fixtures but are in top spot.

The club has three grass and two hard courts. Besides the regular club sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings, there is a ladies morning on a Wednesday, where non-members are welcome at a small charge, which will continue throughout the winter months, weather permitting.
