Two King’s Lynn Cycling Club riders, David Procter and David Webster, attended the early season Ely Hardriders 25-mile time trial.
Procter was very unlucky in having a puncture early in the race but pushed on and finished in a time of 1hr 20.24 for 55th position and Webster in his first ride for the club in 1hr 03.56 for 21st spot in a good start to the TT season.
Some 12 riders took part in either the Wiggles Epic 80-mile or Standard 40-mile ride starting at Huntingdon on Saturday.
Over 2,000 riders participated and KLCC members enjoyed an early morning start.
It was chilly to start with and, coupled with a strong north-westerly wind, this provided quite a few challenges.
The sportive was described by Wiggle as a ride in rolling countryside, but there were quite a few hills to climb. Given the amount of cyclists on the sportive KLCC riders did split up into smaller groups.
All riders benefited from well stocked feed stations along the way.
All KLCC riders did very well and represented the club in a national event. At the finish all riders were presented with a medal and a finisher’s T-shirt. Most are looking forward to the next sportive.
An excellent turnout on a cold winter’s morning didn’t deter 58 riders taking part in the club’s annual Reliability Ride cycle challenge from Alive Lynnsport to complete a set distance within a certain timeframe offering riders two distances, 100k and 50k, on Sunday.
New riders are welcome as well as experienced group riding.
