West Norfolk Junior Badminton players dominated the Norfolk Schools Association under 14 competition in Norwich.
Downham’s Joe Rolfe came away with three titles and Jessica Bateman, from Dersingham, won two.
Rolfe (14) was the top seed in the boys singles and duly came through the initial groups, as did brothers, Charlie and Harry Wakefield from Feltwell.
They all moved into the round 2 groups, where Joe and Charlie won all their games, and Harry won two out of three, which meant they all went into the quarter finals. Alfie Brown, also from Downham, reached the semi-final of the plate competition.
In the main draw quarter-finals, Joe won his match 21-11, but unfortunately the brothers were drawn against each other, with Charlie beating younger brother Harry by 21-13. Joe then took the title after defeating Charlie in the semis and Norwich’s Bradley Smith in the final by 21-16, for his first title of the day.
In the boys doubles, Joe partnered Smith, and the pair easily came through as winners in their initial group, as did Charlie with his partner George Underwood.
Both pairs then won their respective semis to play each other in the final. Harry and his Norwich partner, Louis Davis finished fifth after a play off.
But it was Joe and Bradley who took the title, only after a closely fought final, winning both games in setting by 16-14, 19-17.
In the girls singles, Jessica Bateman (12) won all her initial group games to reach the quarter-final group stage, where she then won all three games to get to the semi-finals.
She won her semi against Tomasin Ainsworth Harrold 21-16 and then beat her doubles partner, Caitlin Parfitt from Norwich, by 21-15 in the final.
Jessica and Caitlin went on to dominate the doubles, winning all their games relatively easily, with only one pair reaching double figures against them.
The last event was the mixed doubles where Joe won his third title, partnering Ainsworth Harrold. They won all their games, with Jessica and Bradley Smith taking the runners-up trophies, losing just one match.
