Diss 12 West Norfolk 22
West travelled to Diss for the final match before the Christmas break on a mild blustery Sunday morning.
West immediately attacked the defence. Diss began to come into the game with aggressive running and their flanker scored in the corner. The conversion was missed.
This woke up the team with the players looking to exert pressure on Diss. Man of the Match Connor Clarke broke the line and offloaded to Jack Trundley on the 22 who powered forward fended off three players to score, the conversion was missed.
West were now in the ascendancy with the forwards winning all scrums and line outs. After numerous phases of play a rolling maul from the 22 pushed the defence backwards enabling Jack Clingo to break free and dive over to score.
West’s forwards continued to dominate especially in the line outs with constant wins against the head.
Now with a head of steam the forwards gave the platform for Tom Hitchcock to pass under pressure to George Lemon who beat three defenders and scored on his return from injury.
A defensive lapse in the West backs gave Diss a further try which was converted. Half-time score: 15-12.
The hosts kicked off the second half and the kick did not make the ten metre line and gave a scrum to Wests.
The pressure continued and after several phases of play the ball came to Clarke who darted through numerous opponents to touch down under the posts, which was duly converted.
Wests continued to pressure the Diss line but could not cross the white line again in a great squad performance from all the team.
