West Norfolk cricketers have been rewarded for excellence during a summer to savour in the Dipple & Conway Opticians Norfolk Cricket Alliance.

While Downham Town finished top of the Premier Division, Stow took the Division One crown.

Stow’s Mike Broad was the first person to win a new Player of the Month accolade, winning a pair of designer sunglasses.

Before making presentations at the Wensum Valley Hotel & Country Club, Damian Conway reflected on Dipple & Conway’s (whose practices includes Swaffham) inaugural year of sponsorship of the Norfolk Alliance.

One of three brothers who own the independent opticians started by their grandfather 98 years ago, he congratulated teams, award winners – and the Alliance management.

“As a family-run, community-orientated business, Dipple & Conway is thrilled to have been a part of the Alliance family this summer,” said Damian Conway.

“We believe that friendly competitive sport is the glue that binds people and communities together.”

Alliance chairman Peter Thomas said: “Their instigation of player of the month awards has given Norfolk’s cricketers a new target to aim for.”
