Sport - Stock Cars: Jay lines-up on pole position

North Walsham’s Jay Neale lines up in pole position for the biggest banger race of the year tomorrow at Swaffham Raceway.

The bangers gold roof final is the culmination of a season-long qualifying campaign, which Neale won, to claim his starting position.

Joining him on the front row of the grid is George Starkie (Norwich) with drivers from across the Anglian region and other parts of the UK lining up behind them.

The race forms part of the annual BBC Children In Need fundraiser meeting, where drivers and spectators alike are encouraged to dress-up in Pudsey and other fancy dress outfits to take part in a parade lap of the track.

Joining the bangers on the grid are the street stocks, which are a budget stock car formula.

Racing gets under way at 6pm, admission costs £10 adults, £5 OAPs and for this special occasion all children (under 16) are admitted free.

Car parking and meeting programme are provided free and for further details check out the website at: www.swaffhamraceway.com

n Upwell teenager Jake Giddings, a student at the College of West Anglia, put in a fine display at the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup Championship.

The youngster finished eight and tenth on the world-famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
