Heros Gym – the new home of Ferry Street Boxing Club – will host the Eastern Counties schoolboy championship box-off on Sunday.

And Ferry Street’s own Joe Manning will be going for glory as he defends the title which he successfully won last year.

Manning, who has been training hard and is ready for the challenge, will step into the ring against Essex champion Finley Mowatt, from Brentwood.

Doors at the gym, which is based on the Hardwick Industrial Estate (PE30 4HG), will open at 5pm with boxing starting at 6pm.

Tickets will be £5 and all support for Manning would be appreciated as he looks to retain his title.

Ferry Street held its first show, since moving to the new base, before Christmas at Chicagos, in Norfolk Street, Lynn.

Top-of-the-bill on the 14-bout show was Ferry Street’s Karl Tansley, who knocked out his opponent from Portsmouth inside the first minute.

Tansley, who is expected to turn professional later this year, is expected to be involved on Ferry Street’s next show, also at Chicagos, in early March.

Meanwhile, former Ferry Street star Daniel Naylor, who turned professional after joining the Metropolitan Police, has landed a shot at the Southern Area title fight.

No boxer from Lynn has ever won a Southern Area title and Naylor’s bid for glory will take place at York Hall’s Bethnal Green on March 9.
Tickets are priced at £35 and can be purchased by contacting Naylor on 07590995579, or by Twitter at: @DanNaylor1555
Ferry Street Boxing Club runs kids, youth, adult boxing and also adult circuit sessions at the recently-opened Heros Gym, while also running a number of classes themselves, including cardio and weight training, mixed martial arts and boxercise and pole fitness for the ladies.
