Snettisham: Rough seas for sailing club

COUNCILLORS will be visiting a yacht club before considering a planning application.

Snettisham Beach Sailing Club wants permission to permanently site four storage containers at the beach.

The club has been using the storage containers for a number of years but has applied to change its temporary permission into a permanent one.

The plans went before West Norfolk Council’s planning committee on Monday.

Members have been recommended to refuse the application but will be holding a site visit next week.

The application has received a mixed reaction.

The sailing club says that the containers would be used to store boats and a generator. But some villagers have objected on the grounds that the area is of outstanding natural beauty and special scientific interest.
