Sport - Basketball: Bamfield frustrated by latest league loss

CWA Lynn Fury basketball coach James Bamfield has spoken of his frustration after the club lost their relegation battle at Loughborough Riders on Sunday.

Poor focus and concentration cost Fury dearly as they struggled to switch on early on their way to a 67-59 reverse.

Zygimantas Klevinskis was top-scorer for Fury with 14 points.

Tomorrow, Fury host league leaders Northants Thunder at Lynnsport (6pm tip-off) but after their defeat in Leicestershire, Bamfield said: “I’m pretty frustrated.

“After last week I had hoped to really push on but we had seven guys missing from practice for a variety of reasons and, although we travelled with ten, I didn’t feel we were as sharp as we could have been.

“We were again missing four quality players who could have made a difference due to work or injury.

“Once we’d given them a lead it was always going to be difficult as they gained confidence.

“We had to work very hard and perhaps played our starters too many minutes to try and close the gap.

“We looked tired at half-time and started the second period slowly and they looked much sharper.”

Northants Thunder will arrive in West Norfolk with a 100 per cent league record and have also accounted for Division Three side Wellingborough on their way to the third round of the National Cup.

Dangerman for the visiting side will be Marlon Henry, who is the leading scorer in the league.

Tickets are available in advance from Lynnsport reception and doors will open at 5.15pm.
