Sport - Swimming: Brave swimmers battled hard
WEST Norfolk Swimming Club battled valiantly as they travelled to Newmarket on February 4 to compete in round one of the Junior Fenland League.
This is an Inter-Club League for swimmers aged 13 and under. West Norfolk were up against Mildenhall and two teams from Peterborough.
For several of West Norfolkâs swimmers this was their first taste of competitive swimming in an inter-club gala, yet they were not daunted by the experience.
Competition was very strong and all the races were hard fought. West Norfolk swimmers recorded an impressive 24 personal bests out of 41 races, and there were some very strong individual performances.
West maintained a fantastic team spirit throughout, and were great ambassadors for the club. They take a very positive attitude through to the next round and remainder of the league.
Thanks must go to the coach on the night for encouraging many brave performances, club officials and poolside helpers.
Also there is a big thank you to the parents and family members who braved appalling weather conditions on the way home, thank you as always for supporting your children.
Final result: Peterborough A 197, Mildenhall 127, West Norfolk 109 and PeterboroughB 151.
West Norfolk Swimming Club welcomes new swimmers to join their squads. Anyone interested please contact club secretary Clare Jeffery on 07748 496490.
