Swimmers rise to the occasion

West Norfolk Swimming Club competed in the first round of the Junior Fenland League, at Newmarket, which was hosted by Mildenhall.

They were up against competition from Bottisham, Huntingdon, Mildenhall and Peterborough A.

This was the first experience of league swimming for many of the swimmers and they appeared to rise to the occasion with some excellent performances, and several personal bests were achieved.

Peterborough proved much too fast on the night scoring many run away victories.

However there were individual wins for Alice Ireland (50m free, 12/under), Robert Addis (50m breast, 9yrs) and Lewis Jackson (50m breast, 11/under).

Valuable experience was gained by the team to take them on to the next round and the club thank coaches Teena Venables and Ryan Sykes and their poolside helpers.

Result: 1 Peterborough 205 points, 2 Huntingdon 121, 3 West Norfolk 119, 4 Mildenhall 110, 5 Bottisham 84.
