TABLE TENNIS: Ziggys in driving seat

The third week of the IBA Lynn Table Tennis League Barrett Pairs saw Gary Hewitt, Steve Barber and Steve Barrett of Ziggys beat bottom of the table Pauls Driving School 9-0.

Richard Johnson, Leigh McDonald and Alan Jones ensured second placed Nets & Edges kept up the pressure with a 9-0 demolition of Walton Highway A.

Don Dixon, Jim Defty and Richard Mussett of Avengers retained third place with a 8-1 win against Heacham.

Pegg Scaffolding brothers Bryan, Richard and Peter Pegg won 7-2 against St. James.

Runcton Holme A still top Division One this week after winning 10-0 against Ringstead but Terrington could move one point ahead next week if they can take all the points against Heacham B. Richard Hendricks, Justin Mullins and Stuart Ward had no answer against John Mingay, Tim Hines and Jerry Irving.

Graham Keeley and Mike Cooper picked up an impressive win each for Greenfingers against October player of the month Ross Brown but could not stop Terrington winning 8-2. Karl and Philip Brown were unbeaten and Ross added a point against Stuart Frost.

Dave Whitby, Jeff Chung and Lewis Baldock were unstoppable for Ambit Projects in their 10-0 victory against the Spin Doctors team of Gary Wiggs, John Wiggs and Roger Chilvers.

Walton Highway B beat Spiv’s Specials 9-1 with Graham Sheppard and Paul Reed recording maximums for Highway. Spoiler for the Specials was Jim Race with a good win against Craig Pack. Janice Howell and Jeff Race failed to score.

Fifth placed Runcton Holme had a scare this week against Wasps.

Callum Brown and Liam Irlam were in fine form for Wasps with two wins each and David Hughes added a win over Graham Warren.

With Melvyn Jupp and Dave Wearing winning two games each it was left to Graham and Dave to tie the match with the doubles.

Another Peter Fysh maximum and two wins by Peter Nunn was enough for Swaffham Terriers to draw at Runcton Holme B. David Lane starred for Runcton with two wins and Robert Penny and Alan Fuller added a win each. David and Robert made it 5-5 with the doubles. Andrew Southall didn’t score for Swaffham.

Heacham C were convincing 7-3 winners against Sedgeford. Adrian Evans scored a maximum and Malc Diggins (2) and Mike Nobes (1) gave good support.

David Woolley scored two for Sedgeford and Mike Witley added one with Alex Woolley failing to score.
