Rowing: Phoebe (13) picked to represent East of England
ELY Rowing Club member Phoebe Bradbury, from Wretton, has been selected to represent the East of England.
Her selection was confirmed after the Under 14 girls squad's emphatic win over nearest rivals at Norwich Head last weekend.
Bradbury (pictured in action) helped her team complete the 2,000m course
in a time of nine minutes and 49 seconds, racing upstream against the tidal waters of the River Yare.
They completed the course a full 46 seconds ahead of the second-placed crew from Norwich.
Bradbury (13) has earned her place in the crew by consistently achieving excellent results not only in the quad, but also in her single scull.
Training on the Great Ouse at Ely, Bradbury complements her land training with gruelling outings on the river, constantly pushing herself to go faster.
During January, February and March she has been competing in the Winter League head of the river race in Cambridge, racing in her single scull in the early division before joining the rest of her crew in the WJ14 quad.
Bradbury's next test comes today at the junior sculling head on the Olympic multilane course at Dorney Lake, Elton.
