West Norfolk 33 Sleaford 17

WEST scored a number of tries in their first game back after the festive break against a strong Sleaford squad.

Sleaford opened the scoring and this prompted West into action. After some good offloads in the tackle James G went over for West’s first try.

This was shortly followed when Harry M. supported the strong run of the host’s forwards to go over for West’s second.

Sleaford hit back with some aggressive forward play, which gave space on the outside for a fast winger to go over in the corner just before half time.

The second half started with West on the front foot only to lose the ball in contact to allow Sleaford a breakaway try under the posts.

This kick-started West and they began to play some of their most effective running rugby as they ran in three unanswered tries with Ross, Joe and Ollie all showing great passing and support play.

Harry M was in superb kicking form and narrowly missed only one of five conversions.

The final score did not do justice to Sleaford, who pushed West all the way.

Thanks once again for the fantastic support from parents and friends.

Under 12s

A CRACKING morning’s rugby in glorious mud as West and their Wymondham counterparts played out two hard-fought games.

In a very tight first game, West defended valiantly but finally succumbed to sustained Wymondham pressure to fall behind in the first half.

West’s response was to immediately score a try of their own after good work from Archdale allowed Dunne to go over. West had chances to score more tries but it was Wymondham who took theirs to edge the match 15-5. In the second game, both sides made a number of experimental changes, which ultimately benefited West who ran out comfortable 35-0 winners.

It was a fantastic team effort with Otis scoring four tries, Archdale two and a further one from Bray.

Outstanding performances all round, with the forwards dominating through Penston and Taylor allowing for some expansive passing play.
