Sport - Rugby: Swaffham storm to victory in friendly

After a late call-off by Haverhill in their league fixture, Swaffham hosted Norwich Medics in a last-minute friendly.
Swaffham started the game brightly and Ryan Bigland scored the first try after some excellent ball retention at the breakdown created the space out wide.

Captain Bigland doubled his side’s advantage as Swaffham held a 12-0 lead going into the break.
Swaffham accelerated the scoring in the second half. A catch and drive on the Medics line saw Paddy Callaby dive over before John Chamberlain powered over from close range.

The Medics responded with a score of their own but Swaffham hit back when Rob Impey picked up a loose ball before scoring under the posts.

Swaffham’s Tom Murray move from the pack into the centres and this move paid off when a great ball from Daniel Spencer, who kicked three conversions, allowed Murray to add the final points of the game.
The final game before the Christmas break sees league leaders Swaffham travel to Thetford tomorrow.
