Division Two
Thurston 13 Swaffham 7
A STRONG Swaffham side failed to complete the double and were unable to inflict a second successive defeat in a second versus third top-of-the-table clash against Thurston.
Thurston skipper Ben Sinclair converted two penalty attempts in quick succession to give the hosts a 6-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The last play of the first-half resulted in Thurston’s Jack Weaver-Smith scoring with Sinclair converting to take the hosts into a commanding 13-0 lead at the interval.
The second half was becoming a tactical battle with both defences working hard.
But eventually constant pressure on Thurston’s try line and a well-executed move by Spencer saw Swaffham’s Greenwood score. He converted his own try under the posts, taking the score to 13-7.
The remainder of the match proved to be much the same, with both sides creating chances to score.
Swaffham looked the stronger towards the end and came close to scoring an all-important winner in the dying moments.
With other results going against form, the top five are now separated by only three points.
