Ryan still holding the lead

LYNN'S Ryan Bensley maintained his championship lead during rounds eight and nine of the 750 Motor Club Stock Hatch Championship.

Bensley turned in consistently quick laps in qualifying to earn pole position in both races.

Saturday’s race saw Bensley storm into the lead and he crossed the line 1.2 seconds ahead of Martin Ward from Norwich. Fellow Lynn driver Shaun hagen also managed ninth in Saturday’s final.

Bensley took the lead again on Sunday, withstanding pressure from Bath’s Josh Cook.

The race ended with Bensley slipping down to third place in his Saxo, which had 40kg of ballast on board.

Bensley said: “I couldn’t afford to win and carry more ballast at Mallory Park as 60kg has a huge affect on the performance of the car.”

Bensley now leads the championship with five rounds left.

Hagen was involved in a first-corner incident, which forced him to retire from the race after making a lightning start to go fourth.

Andrew Tsang also had a good run in the heat race, where on Saturday he finished 12th.

A stunning drive from 12th to 6th on the grid in Sunday’s heat race saw Tsang pull off some great moves to fight his way through the pack.

He was unfortunate to miss the final after putting in a great drive.

The next round is at Mallory Park on August 3.
