Sport - Speedway: Three confirmed for USA Future
LYNN Young Stars will take on the USA Future team at the Norfolk Arena two days after starting their national league season against title holders Scunthorpe.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 11.
The challenge meeting will be part of a four-date tour for the USA U21 World Cup team to prepare for their qualification meeting in Ukraine on Sunday, April 21.
American organisers have announced the first three riders for the challenge meetings – and fans who watched the USA Dream Team at the end of last year will know the first rider, Mike Buman.
Twenty-year-old Buman is on his fourth trip to the UK and will be team captain.
He has progressed on each tour, top scoring with 16+1 against Dudley Heathens last April.
Buman will be joined by 23-year-old Aaron Fox, who took up speedway less than two years ago and has been making rapid progress.
Fox did the famous American ‘Double Double’ in July 2011, winning both Handicap and Scratch Main Events at San Bernardino.
He stunned the US Speedway world in March 2011 by defeating Greg Hancock to win the Handicap Main Event at the Gumball Rally, at the same track.
The third rider confirmed for the meeting is 18-year-old Brad Pappalardo, the nephew of world champion Greg Hancock.
Pappalardo won the Under 16 National Championship in 2008 and the Handicap Main Event at Costa Mesa’s 40th anniversary meeting in 2009.
