Stars look to down Rockets
THE Lynn Stars hope their Premier Trophy bid will take off tomorrow night when they entertain the Rye House Rockets at the Norfolk Arena.
Old adversaries Rye House currently head the Premier Trophy standings with six points and arrive in West Norfolk after being tipped as dark horses for honours this season by Stars' team boss Rob Lyon.
An entertaining local derby is expecting with the Rockets having assembled a team which has produced some good results already this season.
Stars promoter Buster Chapman is pleased to have a home and away derby to look forward, with the return meeting at Hoddesdon on Saturday night.
Chapman said: "The team are so up for it and after a very respectable display away at Stoke, which gained us our very first Premier Trophy point, I hope we can go on to claim a maximum amount of points against the Rockets on Wednesday and Saturday.
"I know Rye House promoter Len Silver doesn't believe that can happen but I certainly do."
Joe Haines is be the rider who will hold the key to any Rockets success at Lynn on Wednesday.
Last October at Saddlebow Road Haines scored an impressive paid ten points for the Stars when he ironically rode against the Rockets.
Team boss Lyon rates Haines highly, saying: "Joe is a really talented rider and he has the ability to go all the way in the sport, including being a key rider in our national team.
"As far as I'm concerned he is the man we will have to contain if we want to beat Rye House both home and away."
Also lining up for the Rockets will be their new 18-year-old Swedish superstar Linus Sundstrom, who has already racked up some big points in the Premier League.
Returning to the saddle is the legendary Andrew Silver, who could definitely be a surprise package at Lynn with the long straights and big wide turns suiting his style of racing.
The current form of Robert Mear could also cause the Stars some problems and his confidence is expected to be sky-high after such a great start to the campaign.
Rye House's team is finished off with local rider Luke Bowen, Norwich-born Tommy Allen (brother of former Stars' favourite Olly Allen) and also experienced campaigner Chris Neath (subject to fitness).
Lynn will again operate rider-replacement for the injured Kozza Smith in the main body of the team.
The quartet of Chris Schramm, Christian Henry, Emiliano Sanchez and Jan Graversen will be looking to build on their solid home debuts from last Wednesday.
