Stars pipped at the post in TV thriller

Somerset 46, Lynn 44: Match points: Somerset 2, Lynn 1 - UNLUCKY Lynn Stars were pipped at the post in this Sky Sports televised thriller on Tuesday.

It all went down to a last heat decider, with Somerset pulling out a 5-1 to clinch victory.

The Stars just needed to share the points in the race to win this Premier League fixture and there was high drama as it was twice stopped on the first turn after skipper Tomas Topinka fell when forced wide by the home side's Steve Johnston.

In the third start Topinka's bike packed up which left maximum man Johnston and partner Cory Gathercole to see off Chris Schramm's challenge for the match-winning 5-1.
