Tottenhill in demand

Great sport on the Middle Level again, although the weed is being a bit of a problem, too much at times for the ropes to hold.

Great sport on the Middle Level again, although the weed is being a bit of a problem, too much at times for the ropes to hold.

Last Saturday's Sensas match was in jeopardy until agreement was reached with the engineers to draw the weed off.

Once the flow stopped the colour dropped out, nevertheless there were some good weights in this float only match, the slider being particularly effective.

Rupert Garner and Sam Wildsmith who scored last week both framed again.

Rupert won with 24lb of bream and skimmers on the slider, Sam was second with 21lb 4 oz on the pole.

Will Freeman was third on the slider with 15lb 11 oz, and 4th Shaun Wright 13lb 14 oz on the pole.

Above the match length, visiting anglers were catching bream and skimmers on the pole in nets to 30lb.

Anglers practising for the event during the week also recorded good catches, especially when the water was moving.

A similar story at Crooked and Pingle where bream and tench have featured on the tip and roach on the pole and whip using hemp and elderberry.

Successful anglers on Ten Mile this week, some weed but no real problems.

Here again hemp and tares for quality roach if not vast numbers although plenty of surface activity.

Tottenhill is still going well despite the pressure of the school holidays.

Indeed many youngsters and their parents have been spending time on the venue, most have been well rewarded and enjoyed the sport.

None more so than the youngster photographed with a 4.5lb mirror carp.

The goods news is the fish are all fighting fit and in excellent condition.

Shepherd's Port is seeing more anglers.

Several bream during the week from Shepherd's lake, 27 fish best 6lb one of the most noted.

Stanton's lake chunky roach to 4oz and a few skimmers in nets to 14lb on the pole, busy fishing even if the fish aren't specimens.

The best carp net from Bear Lake was 38lb, unfortunately last Saturday saw more anglers than fish, but overall the lake is improving.
