TULIPS: New-look side sink youthful Posh

SPALDING UTD 2 PETERBOROUGH UTD XI 1

NEW-LOOK Spalding United earned an eye-catching 2-1 win over a young Peterborough United side on Tuesday night.

The Tulips bossed a goalless first half, but lost the lively Ian Dunn to a nasty eye injury. He later went to hospital.

His replacement Tony Anelka looked a real handful - and he opened the scoring just seconds after the break with a neat finish.

Posh, who fielded no household names, were lucky to level from a disputed penalty on 77 minutes after player/boss Richard Scott was harshly penalised.

Keeper Leigh Overton saved the initial spot-kick, but the rebound was turned in.

However, Mark Webb fired a sensational winner five minutes from time to seal a deserved win in their opening pre-season friendly.
