Webb to ring the changes

By Greg Plummer

LINNETS boss Keith Webb has promised changes for tomorrow’s clash against Alfreton Town at The Walks.

The visit of the high-flying Reds marks the first of two games over the Easter period with Lynn making the short trip to Hinckley United on Bank Holiday Monday.

Webb remains unhappy in the wake of last Saturday’s comprehensive 3-0 defeat at Fleetwood Town – Lynn’s second defeat on the road in the space of a week.

Striker Julian Joachim looks likely to return to the line-up with Webb saying: “I am looking to bring Julian back in the side now that he has shown his fitness again.

“Julian gives us different options, especially with his little bit of pace running onto a ball over the top.”

Both Dominic Dwyer and on-loan striker Kris Renton could find themselves on the bench if Lynn opt to play Joachim alongside Jack Defty.

clause gone

Renton extended his stay from Norwich City until the end of the season on Monday and Webb explained: “There was a clause in the original loan deal that Kris had to play if we wanted him to come here.

“That clause has now been taken out and Kris will have to fight for his place in the side like everyone else.

“He’s a great lad and has a good attitude. He just needs games, which is why Norwich have agreed to let him stay here longer.”

On other possible changes, Webb said: “There might be one or two. No one who played last Saturday can hold their hands up and say that they deserve to start this week.”

Under the guidance of Nicky Law, Alfreton arrive at The Walks in a Blue Square North play-off place.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last eight games and have failed to concede a goal in their last five matches.

“Alfreton are flying at the moment and will come here looking to win,” said Linnets boss Webb.

“They have two lads who are scoring for fun and will be playing at a high-tempo.

“But we’ve already shown that we’re not that far away when we’ve met sides at the top of the table this season and I’m looking for an improved performance from last weekend.

“It will be a tough weekend with us having two games in the space of three days.

“Hinckley have proved that they are a decent side with decent players and they have had similar problems to us on the financial side.”
