Young Stars secure major sponsorship deal
THE Young Stars have secured a major sponsorship deal with Poultec Training on the eve of the new speedway season.
Poultec Training operate a local apprenticeship scheme and are based at the South Green Park business complex, in Mattishall.
The company already have sponsorship deals with Lynn Stars' riders Tomas Topinka and Kevin Doolan and managing director Edward Bales is excited about the new tie-up with Lynn Speedway's second string.
Bales said: "When the club announced that they were renaming their National League team as the Young Stars and looking for it to serve as an apprenticeship for the senior team, it instantly appealed to us.
"Our company is all about helping young people get apprenticeships in their chosen profession and this is exactly what the riders in the Young Stars team will be doing."
The Poultec apprenticeship scheme is government-backed and has been designed to increase the number of apprenticeship opportunities and provide a dedicated, responsive service for both the employers and learners.
Poultec have also simplified the process of recruiting an apprentice through apprenticeship vacancies and if anybody is interested in finding out more, they should visit their website at www.poultec.co.uk
The Young Stars have confirmed that young Australian Ricky Wallace will take his place in their squad for the 2010 season. But he will be restricted to the number of meetings he can compete in for the team as he is also a full-time member of Lewis Bridger's pit crew.
Young Stars' team boss Dale Allitt is happy with that arrangement.
Allitt told the Lynn News: "To be honest, it is not a problem if Ricky isn't available for all of the meetings as it will give us the opportunity to blood Jake Knight and Rhys Naylor into the team.
"One of the reserves will move up into the team and they will take it in turns for their place in the team.
"It is what our team is all about and I'm sure whoever steps into the breach will be looking forward to the challenge."
LYNN Speedway will launch their 2010 season tomorrow night with their annual press and practise day at their Norfolk Arena base.
Starting at 7pm, the Poultec Training Young Stars will be introduced to the fans first, before supporters meet the Roger Warnes Transport Stars at 8pm.
Both Lynn teams have high hopes for the new campaign with the Lynn Stars going into the season on the back of their league and cup treble last year.
Stars' promoter and stadium owner Buster Chapman loves the idea of the preview night. Chapman said: "A few years ago we used to simply have a
press and practise day but we have moved with the times and tried to make it more appealing for our fans.
"All of the riders will be introduced and interviewed before posing for photos for the press and public.
"They will then take to the track for a few laps of practise before we wrap it all up at about 9.30pm."
Stars' team boss Rob Lyon is excited that the season has finally
arrived.
Lyon told the Lynn News: "It has been a really cold and hard winter but the days are now warming up and I can almost hear the bikes revving in the pits.
"We have a massive year ahead of us and I am so excited about defending all three of our titles, I'm hoping that lots of fans will turn up at the preview night."
Admission to the Norfolk Arena is 3 for adults and concessions, while children aged 15 and under will admitted free of charge.
