SPEEDWAY: Tonight (Wednesday) two of the Premier League's top-ranked riders, Kevin Doolan and Ulrich Ostergaard, will come face-to-face in the Lynn Stars' final home league match of their 2008 campaign.
Lynn's Aussie Doolan is the current highest-averaged rider in the Premier League (10.54), a whisker ahead of former Lynn ace Daniel Nermark (Workington, 10.53).

Ostergaard, who visits with the Reading Racers, is third with 10.33.

These averages cover the Premier League, KO Cup and Premier Trophy.

Ostergaard, the 27-year-old from Denmark, has been in the hottest form of his career, while Doolan has followed on from his experiences in the Elite League last season.

"I can't call who will come out on top of their tussles, but it should be exciting stuff," said Money Centre Stars team manager Rob Lyon.

"Kevin is hard and will use the whole track, while Ulrich will always go for the fastest line around the boards."

The Stars are desperate for the points as they are gunning for the runners-up place in the final 2008 Premier League standings.

Reading's timing should work out well for them with the Stars being weakened by the losses of Shaun Tacey and Rusty Harrison for the rest of the season.

Coming in as a guest for Tacey is local Mildenhall rider, Jan Graversen, while the Stars will operate rider replacement for Harrison.

Chris Mills also returns to Saddlebow Road for the second time this season, and he will be joined by another former Star, Tom P. Madsen, plus Mark Lemon.

"Reading will be one of the toughest home matches we have had," said Stars co-promoter, Jonathan Chapman.

"They knocked us out of the KO cup earlier in the season, so I'm sure they will be feeling quite confident."

The Stars will wrap up their league campaign with an away trip to local rivals, Mildenhall Fen Tigers on Sunday at 4.30pm.

Stars: 1 Kevin Doolan 10.26, 2 Jan Graversen 6.12, 3 Tomas Topinka 9.25, 4 Simon Lambert 5.51, 5 R/R 6.45, 6 John Oliver 4.76, 7 Kozza Smith 4.94.

Reading: 1 Mark Lemon 7.61, 2 Tomas Suchanek 4.81, 3 Ulrich Ostergaard 10.11, 4 Chris Mills 5.39, 5 Tom P Madsen 6.42, 6 guest TBC 4.46, 7 Danny Warwick 4.46.

THE draw has been made for the Premier League Riders Championship at Sheffield on Sunday, September 21, 3.30pm.

Draw: Adrian Rymel (Berwick), Jason Lyons (Birmingham), William Lawson (Edinburgh), Shane Parker (Glasgow), Jason Bunyan (Isle of Wight), Doolan (Lynn), Theo Pijper (Mildenhall), Jason King (Newcastle), Ostergaard (Reading), Gary Havelock (Redcar), Tai Woffinden (Rye House), Magnus Karlsson (Scunthorpe), Andre Compton (Sheffield), Jason Doyle (Somerset), Ben Barker (Stoke), Nermark (Workington).

Reserves: Tom Topinka (Lynn), Kauko Nieminen (Workington).
