Grand Prix stars converge on Lynn
A CLUTCH of the world's top speedway Grand Prix riders converge on Lynn tomorrow (5) for the Elite League Pairs meeting at the Norfolk Arena.
More than half of the 2008 Grand Prix line-up will be in town for the opening event of this year's Super 7even series.
A huge crowd is expected for the event, which will see the likes of former Lynn favourites Jason Crump, Troy Batchelor, Niels Kristian Iversen and Davey Watt back in West Norfolk.
One late change sees Jonas Davidsson come in for Andreas Jonsson for the Lakeside Hammers after the in-form Jonsson suffered two broken fingers in his left hand and a broken bone in his right riding against Belle Vue on Monday night.
Poole are the reigning champions.
The Lynn promotion have revealed that a video wall is to be added to the Norfolk Arena meeting.
A jumbo LED video screen will be available for fans to see replays and interviews with their favourite riders to add to the occasion on the third and fourth bends
Racing starts at 7pm but gates will open at 4pm with a rider autograph session close to the entrance to the stadium at 5.30pm. The parade starts at 6.45pm.
Super 7even series director Jonathan Chapman, co-promoter at Lynn, said: "We made good strides forward last season but the time is now right for us to take it on a stage further.
"We're trying hard to enhance the entertainment value of these meetings and we want to provide a better all-round package for the fans to enjoy.
"It worked last season and the areas where we feel we could have done better we are working on to improve."
The Super 7even series features major events at venues up and down the country throughout the season.
Elite League Pairs line-up: Belle Vue: Jason Crump, Charlie Gjedde; Coventry: Chris Harris, Rory Schlein; Eastbourne: Scott Nicholls, Lee Richardson; Ipswich: Chris Louis, Robert Miskowiak; Lakeside: Jonas Davidsson, Adam Shields; Peterborough: Hans Andersen, Kenneth Bjerre; Poole: Bjarne Pedersen, Davey Watt; Swindon: Leigh Adams, Troy Batchelor; Wolverhampton: Freddie Lindgren, Niels Kristian Iversen.
Last year's event, also staged at Lynn, was won by Crump and Bjarne Pedersen for Poole, who beat the Reading pairing of Greg Hancock and Travis McGowan in the final. Poole had only just squeezed through to the semi-finals where they upset the form-book by demolishing Peterborough.
