Nermark back to face STARS

SPEEDWAY: Daniel Nermark returns to the Norfolk Arena for the first time this season tomorrow (4) evening.

The Swede, who has helped the Lynn Stars win numerous pieces of silverware over the past two seasons, is now the main man at Workington after a full transfer over the winter months.

This is without doubt one of the hardest league matches the Money Centre Stars will face this season as they take on the Comets.

Workington have hit a rich vein of form in recent weeks but the Stars are the ones who drew first blood when back in April they secured a surprise away draw at Derwent Park,

"That result was first strike from us," said Stars team manager, Rob Lyon.

"The problem is that could inspire them to get revenge, and with the team they have, anything is possible.

"I am convinced we can win this match but there won't be many points in it if we do."

After last week's convincing win at home against the Newcastle Diamonds plus the previous week's win against the Rye House Rockets, Stars fans could be excused for starting to get excited and believing their team has got what it takes to win the league.

BELIEVER

One believer is co-promoter, Jonathan Chapman: "At the beginning of the season I felt this team would go all the way but for one reason or another we got knocked out of the Premier Trophy and the KO Cup," he said.

"The team are now determined to make up for that and this meeting will be a good telling point if my gut reaction at the beginning of the season was right.

"Workington recently won at Sheffield by ten points so the speedway world will also be expecting a win here for them too. It should be a great meeting."

Tomas Topinka is one of the men that fans will be expecting to stop old team mate, Nermark, in his tracks.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to racing against Daniel.

"He is very fast round Lynn but my machines are good and I am feeling good.

"I don't want to predict which way the match-ups will go but I'm sure either myself or Kevin will be fast enough to stop him."

The Comets also have Joe Haines and Charles Wright in their line-up, two British youngsters that have both performed well at Lynn in the past.

It will be down to riders like Kozza Smith, John Oliver and Simon Lambert to stop those two.
