THE Lynn Stars started the 2009 season without a main team sponsor for the first time in ten years.
There was hope before the start of the season that negotiations with a large Norwich based company would be successful but the credit crunch had hit hard and these didn't prove fruitful.

The team soldiered on and took the initiative to advertise for a team sponsor on their race jackets.

Club boss Buster Chapman is happy they took that opportunity.

He said: "That created quite a few enquiries, the team's pictures were plastered across the local papers and a few companies had seen it was quite a good marketing opportunity.

"We are thankful that negotiations have now been finalised and the team will be known as the Lynn Roger Warnes Transport Stars for the 2009 season."

Roger Warnes Transport are a locally-based business from Dunham that has more than 65 HGV lorries and trailers and specialise in the transportation of grain, sugar beet, sand, coal and anything in bulk.

They are well known to the club, having sponsored some riders in the past.

Managing director, Roger Warnes, is pleased his company have secured the sponsorship: "The Stars are a great team that I admire a lot.

"I have really enjoyed helping out riders in the past but had never really considered team sponsorship until this year.

"Once I saw the photos in the paper I thought that could be us, so I enquired some more and here we are sponsoring one of Norfolk's most successful teams.

"I wish them a lot of luck for this coming season."
