SIMON Lambert went from Lynn Star to Young Lion in an instant after a dream phone call put him in the Great Britain squad this week.
The rising Lynn Stars 19-year-old speedway rider has been selected to ride for the Young Lions Team of Great Britain to ride in the World Under 21 Championships in Pardubice, Czech Republic, tomorrow.
Lambert said: "It really is a dream come true and something I have been working and aiming for.
"I really didn't expect it to come so early in my career.
"I have had some good results lately and James Cockle and myself won the Conference League Pairs Trophy for Boston Speedway at the weekend, and this gives you a real boost.
"I have been doing well for my Premier League club Lynn.
"To be in a World Championship event is absolutely amazing.
"I have good backing from my family and have good sponsorship to help me in the sport, and this is a way I can repay them all by hopefully getting good results at the weekend."
Lambert, who lives near Gosberton in Lincolnshire, added: "It's my first-ever overseas meeting. I'm looking forward to it.
"I'm just trying to sort my stuff out for the weekend.
"I'm taking over one of Tom's (Stars skipper Topinka) engines. It's one I know, I know it's fast.
"It's the one I've been using as part of a sponsorship deal with Brian Chilvers & Son (Emneth, near Wisbech) for the last three or four meetings.
"I'd like to give big thanks to Tom, as I've been gaining experience in his workshop, and to Brian Chilvers."
Boston-born Lambert also revealed he has been approached to ride in an individual event in Poland in a week's time in connection with Polish side Turno.
He said: "I got asked to do it by a scout, so I said yes. Last year they offered me a three-year deal.
"I said no, I wanted to go over there a couple of times first as the tracks are a lot bigger and a lot faster.
"Kevin Doolan rides for them, and I'll borrowing his bike, so a big thanks to him.
"The level's like the Premier League over here, I think.
"I went over there a couple of weeks ago for a meeting, but it got rained off."
Lambert has come off a great weekend. As well as the CL Pairs, he went to Sittingbourne on Sunday and got an 18 point maximum for Boston in their 55-35 victory.
He added: "What I've achieved so far is what I wanted to do by the end of the season. Now it's just setting fresh targets as I go."
