Isle of Wight 49 Lynn Stars 41
A top score of paid 17 from Kevin Doolan was not enough for the Money Centre Stars to grab an "overseas" win, again putting up an away fight but going down narrowly on Tuesday night.

Shaun Tacey and Doolan followed home opening heat winner Jason Bunyan, then Lynn went ahead with a Kozza Smith win in Heat 2.

This was the only time they led the meeting. Lynn kept it tight at 19-17 down after six heats, but the Islanders stretched their lead from then on.

IoW took control with a 3-0 in Heat 8 when Tacey and Smith and the hosts' James Holder fell (26-19).

Mid-meeting there was a five-race gap without a Stars heat winner, Doolan breaking the sequence during a Heat 11 tactical ride, and Smith replacing Tacey to gain third place in a 7-2.

This made it 36-30, but immediately IoW got a 5-1 via Richard Sweetman and Glen Phillips over Tom Topinka and Smith.

Doolan replied with a win in a shared race, 44-34, which sealed the win for the hosts.

In the penultimate outing John Oliver replaced Simon Lambert, who had drawn a blank during the evening. But Paul Fry won the race with Andrew Bargh passing Oliver to open up a 12-point gap.

The Stars found some consolation in the nominated Heat 15, Topinka and Doolan reeling off a 5-1.

IoW: 1 Jason Bunyan 12, 2 James Holder 1, 3 Glen Phillips 10+1, 4 Paul Fry 6+1, 5 Krystof Stojanowski 9+1, 6 Andrew Bargh 2, 7 Richard Sweetman 9.

Stars: 1 Kevin Doolan 15+2, 2 Shaun Tacey 2, 3 Tomas Topinka 10, 4 Simon Lambert 0, 5 Rusty Harrison 5+1, 6 John Oliver 3, 7 Kozza Smith 6.

Wednesday's Premier League meeting with Stoke was rained off.

It has been rearranged for Wednesday, August 27.
