Stars open with East Anglian derbies
THE Lynn Money Centre Stars 2008 fixture list sees their first competitive meeting being a Premier Trophy home match with Mildenhall on Wednesday, March 19.
This follows two appetisers with fellow East Anglians, Ipswich.
The Premier League campaign opens at Workington on Saturday, April 12.
Other highlights of the calendar are the Norfolk Arena hosting the British Under 21 Final Qualifying Round, with every chance that the fans will be able to cheer local favourite Simon Lambert on.
Fans will also be treated to one of the biggest Super7even meetings in the calendar as the Elite League Best Pairs returns to the Norfolk Arena for the second successive season.
Plus there is the return of Chris Mills and Daniel Nermark to their former club as they line up in the Reading and Workington teams.
New signing Rusty Harrison was unveiled at a fans' forum on Saturday.
Promoter Jonathan Chapman said: "The fans took to Rusty and gave him a good reception.
"I didn't realise that he has been Australian under 21 champion (beating ex-Lynn rider Travis McGowan) – and that's something Troy Batchelor can't even win yet."
Details of a local sponsor will be revealed on Friday.
Lynn will bid for their first ever chance to gain promotion into the Sky Sports Elite League. The Premier League has reverted back to the team finishing top of the table being crowned the league champions.
The top four teams will also qualify for the promotion play offs where the winning team will then face the team that finished bottom of the Elite League.
The Stars are currently sitting on 96 competitive straight wins at home, which stretches all the way back to May 2004.
They will also be looking to retain their KO Cup for a fourth successive season and the Premier Trophy for a third successive season.
Chapman added: "This will all be harder than ever to achieve though as it is the most even and open Premier League ever seen with no clear favourites among the teams."
There are two new teams, Scunthorpe and Reading, plus the opening inter league fixture against the Ipswich Witches.
