"WE start our title assault right here and now."
That was the ominous message to the rest of the Speedway Premier League from Lynn Stars team boss Rob Lyon this week.

Lyon leads the Money Centre Stars into action against the Newcastle Diamonds at the Norfolk Arena tomorrow (Wednesday) night for only the third home league meeting of the season.

A focused Lyon said: 'We are now playing catch-up after having so few meetings recently. Somerset and Workington have really gathered some pace and have 16 league points compared to our eight and we must not let them get away.

"Maybe the Trophy and Cup came too early for the side.

"It takes time for new riders to gel. We haven't had a lot of luck along the way either but I've every confidence we can push for the league.

"The team is good enough so let's get it together and show the rest of the league we really mean business."

The Newcastle Diamonds have always been good visitors to the Norfolk Arena, with Josef Franc one of the fastest travelling riders on the Saddlebow Road circuit.

George Stancl makes his return to the Diamonds starting line-up from injury.

Jason King is having his best season to date and only two seasons back he led Mildenhall to within a whisker of beating the Stars at home.

Jerran Hart is Newcastle's newest signing and was one of the top riders at the recent Under 21 qualifiers at Lynn.

Stars' co-promoter Jonathan Chapman believes the meeting will be a classic and said: "I have always enjoyed Newcastle visiting us and looking at their team I believe they will pose us a problem.

"Hopefully we will get the win, but I don't think it will be easy."

The Stars are at full-strength with Kevin Doolan making a successful return from injury a fortnight ago.

Lynn's scheduled Premier Trophy pool three meeting at Birmingham fell victim to the weather on Sunday due to a waterlogged track.

No new date has been announced for the re-arranged fixture after a third consecutive call off.

Birmingham had already booked a two-legged semi final berth against Sheffield in the competition after topping the group.

Racing starts at 7.30pm.

Stars: 1 Kevin Doolan 10.53, 2 Shaun Tacey 6.88, 3 Tomas Topinka 7.71, 4 Simon Lambert 5.54, 5 Rusty Harrison 5.91, 6 John Oliver 4.64, 7 Kozza Smith 3.27.

Newcastle: 1 Josef Franc 8.55, 2 Richard Juul 4.62, 3 George Stancl 7.55, 4 Jason King 7.26, 5 Christian Henry 6.37, 6 Jerran Hart 3.00, 7 Sean Stoddart 3.86.

LYNN

LAUNCH NEW

INITIATIVE

This week also sees the Stars launch a pioneering new initiative.

With the cost of fuel still on the rise, the club have decided to help fans meet other fans from their area so they can make arrangements to travel to home meetings together and save money.

The programme is called 'Stars Fans Travelling Together' (SFTT).
