Honor's commitment shows in performances
HONOR de Winton's commitment to sport showed in her outstanding performances in different fields in 2007.
Excelling in hockey and rounders, she proved herself to be a gifted team player with the ability to lead and inspire. Her athletic achievements demonstrated her ability to cope with the pressures of competing as an individual.
Honor (12), of Brancaster Staithe, has been nominated for a Super Kids sports award by her mother, Sophie, who listed her daughter's many achievements in under-13 competitions last year.
In athletics, Honor, who attends Beeston Hall School in West Runton, gained gold in the national prep schools long jump and silver in the high jump.
She was Norfolk champion in long jump and gained silver in the 70m hurdles. In indoor competition in Norfolk, Honor gained gold in both long jump and hurdles. In long jump, she was ranked seventh nationally.
Honor trains and competes with West Norfolk Athletics Club.
Mrs de Winton said: "Recently, Honor was selected to be in the under-13 girls' Norfolk Sportshall Athletics team. They will be representing the East at the national and UK finals in Birmingham in April."
In hockey, Honor is vice-captain of her school's under-13 team which won national honours last year. She also plays for Norfolk and has been nominated as one of the top five under-13 players in the county. She has been invited to train with East Hockey in 2008.
In rounders, Honor was selected to play for England's under-13 senior squad in 2007. She also attended England rounders training and will be competing in international competitions this year.
Active Honor also finds time to enjoy netball, dinghy sailing, riding, tennis and skiing.
Mrs de Winton said: "Honor has spent much time attending various sporting events and training days around the country. She has never complained about the travelling or having to do all the extra work to catch up on missed lessons."
Honor has also recently been made head of school, a position which has brought her many extra responsibilities.
