SUNNY weather ensured the success of Sunday's big Royal British Legion rally in Narborough.
Legion members from branches at Castle Acre, Dereham, Necton, North Elmham, Shipdham, Sporle, Swaffham and Watton turned out for their annual get-together, which this year was organised by West Acre and District branch.

West Acre branch chairman John Conning said 13 standard-bearers were in the parade, which also included at least 30 people in the marching party and an 18-strong band from 231 (Norwich) Squadron Air Training Corps providing musical accompaniment.

The parade formed up in Narford Road and marched off at 2.40pm along Main Road to the village's All Saints' Church for the 3pm service.

On the way, it passed a dais where Wing Commander Andy Hine, officer commanding II (AC) Squadron at RAF Marham, took the salute. Beside him on the platform was Narborough Parish Council's new chairman, Mrs Maureen Burchell.

Narborough rector, Canon Stuart Nairn, took the service and gave the sermon, and there was an act of remembrance within the church with a bugle playing.

Mr Conning said: "It was an excellent day and all the branches were there. After the service, there was a garden party atmosphere as we enjoyed refreshments in the grounds of Church Farm, next to the church, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Roger Sheldrake."
